The Met Gala Confirmed Black People Invented Doing the Most

I love black people.

Every since the creation of the sparkle we’ve consistently done the most in every facet of our lives. Hair, nails, clothes, taxes, it doesn’t matter the genre or household income, give us some Shea butter, gel for our edges, a feather, ruffle, spritz of glitter and a pop of color, and we will turn nothing into something, and something into everything.

Case in point last night’s Met Gala benefitting the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. With the theme Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between, our cousins and ‘nem did not disappoint in bringing the cocky fresh. From Solange in the ultimate winter coat to Rihanna donned in everything right with the world, it was a night lux and a celebration of every item you could possibly find in your grandma’s junk drawer in the kitchen. And we loved every bit.

Oh, and then there was Diddy.

In the words of Luvvie Ajayi, “This is why you can’t take us nowhere. This is also EXACTLY why you wanna take us everywhere. Our inability to be outdone.”

Here’s a look at some of our favorite Met Gala outfits.
